1 Samuel 18:1-3 As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father’s house. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul.

God has given us yet another day to thank Him for His mercies.

There is one relationship that we all long to have in this journey and that is friendship. All of us love to have friends. We confide in them, we fight, we argue, and we share our deepest thoughts and feelings with them. A friend is one who can understand in all our situations and help us in times of adversities. Friends are a very important part in many of our lives. To have a good friend, one has to be a good friend too. Friends can make or break you.

Elbert Hubbards writes “A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you”. Aristotle the great philosopher writes “What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies” and I also read that friendship is a relationship which involves mutual self respect , trust , loyalty and affection. Good friends enjoy each others company and share the same interest. Wherever there are good friends, satan cannot resist sneaking inside. He tries to find a way to break this beautiful bond by planting wrong thoughts like pride, envy and misunderstandings in their minds.

Lets turn to the Bible, we see about the friendship between David and Jonathan. Jonathan loved David as himself, he became one in spirit with David. He even strengthened David’s hand when he was fleeing from his father’s anger, he also gave the throne which belong to him legally. What a glorious relationship ?

Jesus said in John 15………..You are my friend, if you do what I command you…… I have called you friends….. Jesus is our true friend who gave his life so that we could live eternally.

Pray : I want to be your friend Lord today. Amen.
