Our Family

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Greetings to you. Its yet another beautiful day in our lives. We are meditating upon the relationships God has given us in this journey. God created man and He said , “ it is not good for man to be alone”. So, He created a companion , a helper suitable for him. God gave marriage as a gift to Adam and Eve, and He gave us the experience of leaving and cleaving and to take responsibility for each others welfare and to become one in flesh. This is one glorious relationship God instituted to us. He gave us children and made us into a beautiful family.

But, as we see from Genesis, Satan came in between this God made relationship and we see sin entering this beautiful garden of Eden. A relationship which was so pure and beautiful in the sight of God broke because sin became a barrier between God and man. Even today as we look around Satan is busy entering families and breaking them very easily by bringing in ego and suspicion. The moment the peace and happiness of the family is taken away, the tranquility of the society is disturbed. Today many a families are broken, relationship between husband and wife, parents and children are torn apart – a sad situation in today’s world. The reason being Christ not being given the due position in every relationship.

I have read in many homes with a quote which goes like “Christ is the head of this family” and “ the family that prays together stays together”. What an amazing thought which has to be practiced in real life. We need to keep Christ first in all our activities. It can be our parents, our children, our profession or our social life. We need to spend time with our families in sitting together for a time of devotion and prayer which will help us stay together strong in the Lord. No matter how close satan comes, we will emerge victorious with Gods help.
